Vintage Powder Embroidered Dress
Powder-pink cotton flared dress. It is made from a soft, thick fabric whose weave highlights alternating vertical lines of matte and satin herringbone. On the front, smocked lines suggesting a yoke are separated in the middle by a flat area embroidered with a terracotta flower with a shiny heart. The gathers created by the smocks give the dress its fullness. The pointed collar, extended by a small frill, encircles the round neckline and stops on either side of the flatwork, clearing the throat. A wide gathered flounce finishes the bottom of the dress, and the sleeves are tightened by a narrow buttoned cuff and surrounded by a terracotta gribiche stitch. In the back, a yoke supports the panel gathers. It opens to the full height and closes with natural mother-of-pearl buttons.
